The Chamber of Commerce has a specific mission, to bring tourists and new business to Point Roberts. One of the focus' last year was the Spring Social to help raise money to ensure that the Pier Project would move forward. One of the more memorable Chamber lunches was held at the Dockside, where details to expand marina services was disclosed. Our local scholar was presented the Chamber Scholarship at the local Dollars for Scholars presentation. The fourth of July focused on a great family day with a very well attended Parade which included the Vancouver Motor Cycle Drill Team and great creativity by our local business and individual participants. Some special efforts and local sponsorship for events brought a lot of the local and summer residents to Lighthouse Marine Park to enjoy the festivities. A tradition the Chamber shall continue to promote. (Enter our Survey regarding 4th of July Fireworks at our Contact Page as your comments and suggestions are always appreciated regarding upcoming lunches and events). In November with new leadership and a full slate of directors, the Chamber is once again very active and already has luncheons set into the spring bringing informative speakers to our community. Our biggest accomplishment for this year was the passing of the Ballot for the formation of the Special Recreation and Service Area for the continued work to bring a Pier to Point Roberts. We shall continue our work with The Port of Bellingham and again thank the USDA-Forest Service for providing the Grant and to the Tsw Rotory for coming through for us when we needed the additional funds. We shall keep you updated. Also watch for our new Point Roberts Pendant Pins which will be available at local Merchants throughout the Point. Our membership numbers are growing and participation by all who live in Point Roberts is encouraged. |
